India Heritage Foundation

An appeal to support The Cultural Center and Hindu Temple of Hampton Roads.

The Indian Community of Hampton Roads is proud to introduce the India Heritage Foundation, a Restricted Endowment fund of Bharat Inc. a Virginia non-profit charity. Our goal is to ensure proper allocation of donations for the upkeep and maintenance of our Cultural Center and Temple .

Our Story

Background
The Hindu Temple and cultural center is the only place in Hampton Roads where all people of Indian origin can come freely to worship, interact culturally, and enjoy the fellowship. The facility is equipped with a kitchen, a dining hall and a multi-purpose hall that is used for various cultural activities. This is our social hub and a symbol of our culture for non-Indians. OUR Cutural center faces challenges with generating enough income to support its day-to-day operations.

Intent
1. Preserve the Cultural Center and the Hindu Temple of Hampton Roads and its facilities for the future generations by providing a stable source of income from the growth of the fund.
2. Provide income to promote and sustain the rich cultural diversity and Indian Heritage in the area. This would include activities like Balakendra, Jeevan Sandhya Mandal, Yoga,Sports Day celebration and various festivals organized under the auspices of the Temple.

How will it work?
Any person or organization can contribute (money, publicly traded securities, or any property deemed acceptable by the foundation) in a tax-deductible and irrevocable manner to the India Heritage Foundation. The funds will be kept secure, under the control of Renaissance Charitable Foundation, Inc.and will be invested by the parent fund under the expertise of professional fund managers. When the value of this asset reaches $2.5 million, we will have an income that is substantial in supporting the Temple as we can draw no more than 4.5% of the net assets annually (supporting Temple and Cultural Center).
